Person County VINE Record Coverage
North Carolina's notification service is the Statewide Automated Victim Assistance and Notification system, known as NC SAVAN. The public interface is VINELink, with web and mobile access. The official state overview also lists 1-877-NC-SAVAN, or 1-877-627-2826. The service is free and anonymous for public custody searches.
NCDAC policy connects SAVAN with the state's OPUS offender data and says county jails also use SAVAN. Still, participation, visibility, and available events depend on the source record. Person County does not publish a separate local release-notification tool. Search the live matched record to learn what that reporting agency currently offers. Do not assume every Person County Detention Center record has the same alert choices as an NCDAC prison record.

Search Person County VINE Records

- Enter the person's name or record number using the fields offered by the North Carolina search.
- Compare date of birth or age, facility, reporting agency, and record number before opening a result.
- Open the matched record and copy the exact custody status, agency, event date, and timestamp shown.
- If the result says released or not in custody, identify which agency supplied that statement.
- Contact that agency or the named receiving custodian before concluding that the person entered the community.

The reporting agency and status must be read together. A county-jail record and a state-prison record may belong to the same person but describe different custody episodes.
Person County VINE Release Fields
VINELink is a status and notification layer. It does not replace the source agency's entry-and-release summary. Record the fields displayed on the live matched result because labels and event options can vary by agency:

For NCDAC prison records, state policy lists events that can include projected release, release with supervision, release without supervision, escape or capture, minimum custody, death, and home leave. That policy does not prove that the same set appears for every local jail record. Verify the Person County options on screen.
Register Person County VINE Alerts
After opening the correct record, choose the register or get-notified action. Select the release or custody-change event of interest and then choose among the channels offered. North Carolina policy supports telephone, email, text, and TTY methods, but the live record controls which options are available. Do not register contact information against a name-only match.

- Enter a phone, email, text, or other offered destination.
- For telephone alerts, create a four-digit personal identification number, or PIN.

The PIN confirms receipt of a telephone notice. Without acknowledgment, calls may repeat at intervals for up to 24 hours under the NC SAVAN policy. Do not extend that rule to text or email unless the live interface says it applies. Official registry-alert material gives daytime calling hours for that separate service, so those hours should not be presented as universal custody-alert hours.

Person County NC SAVAN Layer
NC SAVAN/VINELink is the documented local and state notification layer for Person County. State policy explains the OPUS connection for NCDAC and says county jails also participate in SAVAN. The Person County government site does not advertise its own distinct release-alert system. This matters because a sheriff app, jail telephone, county record request, and VINE notification perform different roles.

No one channel covers every release. For local custody, call the county detention facility. For a state record, use the NCDAC search and inspect whether supervision follows prison release. VINE can connect these events, but it cannot turn overlapping agency files into one certified timeline.
The Person County Sheriff's official mobile app is not a substitute notification source. Its store descriptions establish an agency communication channel but do not promise an inmate search, release list, or release alert. Confirm any new function on the live app before relying on it. For historical proof, the county request portal remains the route to the sheriff's existing entry-and-release record.
Confirm Person County VINE Notices
When a release alert arrives, save its time, reporting agency, record number, and exact status wording. For a Person County jail episode, call 336-597-0525 and ask whether the outcome was community release or transfer. If the source is NCDAC, open the offender detail and check active prison or supervision status. If the alert concerns a transfer, locate the receiving agency before describing the person as released into the community.
Several timestamps may all be valid. A court can order release, the jail can process the physical exit, SAVAN can transmit an event, and eCourts can later post the docket entry. Build a timeline with the agency beside each date. Do not average the times or choose one without knowing what it measures. Person County VINE Search Limits
A released or noncustody status means the supplying agency no longer reports that person in the shown custody. It does not rule out a new booking, transfer to another county, NCDAC intake, USMS custody, or ICE detention. A missing result can also reflect spelling, identity mismatch, source participation, delayed data, or changed public visibility. It does not prove that no custody episode occurred.
VINELink is not the federal BOP locator or ICE detainee locator. Use BOP resources for a sentenced federal record, ICE resources for an immigration transfer, and USMS information for federal pretrial or transport context. Each has different history and status limits.
The NC SBI Sex Offender Registry is also separate. It applies only when a person has a registration duty. A registry record or identity photograph can help distinguish a registrant, but it is not a universal release record and does not prove sentence completion. Use the sheriff or NCDAC record for the underlying custody event.
Registry alerts and custody alerts also should not be blended. Person County registration duties involve the sheriff's registration officer and periodic verification, while SAVAN custody events originate from jail or correctional source data. A person can appear in both systems for different reasons. The registry supplies identity and registration status only for covered registrants; it does not supply a general Person County jail release reason or date.
Reconcile Person County VINE Events
Multiple records may describe one person without conflict. A county booking can precede a state sentence, a prison release can lead to post-release supervision, and a later federal or immigration episode can follow. Record five facts for each event: authority, physical custodian, event, ordered or effective time, and recorded or processed time.
Use exact status verbs. “Transferred to NCDAC” differs from “released on bond.” “Released to post-release supervision” differs from “sentence discharged.” If two source records truly disagree, report the conflict and ask the source custodians to define their fields. A VINE notice is strong enough to prompt verification, not strong enough to erase a contrary sheriff or NCDAC record without follow-up.
If a released record later disappears from public VINE search, the absence does not invalidate an earlier notice. Public visibility and retention in the notification interface can differ from the source agency's documentary history. Preserve the event details without exposing unnecessary personal identifiers, then request the sheriff or NCDAC record when the accomplished date or destination must be established.
